Professional information
I am a fifth grade bilingual teacher in Addison School District 4 in an early-exit transitional bilingual program.
As part of my graduate coursework I learned how to develop reliable and valid assessments and analyze the resulting data to track and improve student achievement. I am solutions-oriented and have high standards for myself and my students and believe that all children are college bound. While at Peabody I shared my technological knowledge with my peers and used a variety of computer-based learning programs in my classroom including Raz-Kids, math games designed around NWEA RIT bands, and Reader Rabbit.
Prior to becoming a teacher I was a paraprofessional in Addison District 4. From 2002-2010 I lived in Mexico where I became fluent in Spanish and learned the culture as well as volunteered with community organizations. Having a plan and being prepared are an essential part of my practice, but I also realize that plans have to change for a myriad of reasons and am able to be flexible based on my student’s and administration’s needs.
